Brief
Computer literate personnel the person made responsible for this will be trained and gain valuable experience that will be transferred to others.
1. Purpose Summary: The purpose of this work is to prepare raw materials (Images, video etcetera) into appropriate folders numbered, edited and sized as necessary. The folders will be related to a spreadsheet where all Meta data known will be stored. Where further information can be obtained this will be followed up and inserted. The work will involve probing the archive and detailing further material archived. Where applicable scanning of original material and ensuring this is dealt with appropriately.
2. Key Responsibilities
1. To input data into low resolution files from the high resolution master into the searchable database/ catalogue of data spreadsheets ready to import into the archive database.
2. Detail the metadata processing aspects.
3. Add accession numbers to material for Binary Systems for virtual viewing.
4. Edit work for specific metadata needs.
5. Add a summary of the archive descriptor – the story we have about each photo.
6. Initiate and maintain duty of care issues for on-line access.
7. Batch process to add those numbers to photo files.
8. Preparing archive materials for on-line Access photos, oral recordings, documents.
9. Prep and manage Master copies of archive.
3. Person Specification
1. Strong computer literacy.
2. Methodical approach.
3. Understand the content and context of historical documents.
4. Experience preferred of working with the appropriate software for bulk naming, resizing, scanning and assentation recording, categorising files.
5. Willing to learn by training the techniques required.
